Have you heard? We have a new after hours call service system that will take you to a live representative. If you have any maintenance emergencies please call 843-379-5110 and follow the steps to our emergency line. However, if this does not work, please call our service center directly at 704-684-0724.

Ashton Pointe Community Notice

As a reminder all vehicles must be in operable condition. Any type of auto repair work in common areas is not allowed. The community carwash area and inside of your personal garage are the only designated areas to perform any automobile repairs or maintenance. We have noticed there are several oil spots throughout our parking area. This problem damages our parking lot and is unsightly. Please ensure your vehicle is not leaking oil. If it is brought to our attention that your vehicle is in violation you will be faced with fines and we will enforce tagging and towing your vehicle. We appreciate your consideration in this matter.

Maintenance Tip

During the colder winter months, condensation can still form on high quality windows. This is common in our area and nothing to be alarmed with. Condensation forms on windows due to humidity in the home, which is increased just from living normally. A family of four can introduce 18 gallons of moisture into the home’s air every week just through bathing, cooking, doing laundry and even breathing. New construction materials and techniques make homes much more air tight than older homes; thus reducing the ability for the moisture (humidity) to escape. Once condensation forms, an environment is created which can lead to other problems if allowed to puddle. To help prevent this, raise blinds in the morning to allow increased airflow around the window. It is also a good idea to include wiping window sills with your weekly cleaning. Cleaning windows and sills not only reduces any moisture present, it also eliminates dust which can be a food source for mold and mildew. Many shower cleaners will also leave a residual on the surface which can help to prevent mold and mildew.


Greenlight A Vet

America’s veterans are some of our nation’s bravest, hardest-working men and women. However, it’s hard to show them the appreciation they deserve when, back home and out of uniform; they’re more camouflaged than ever. Greenlight A Vet is a campaign to establish visible national support for our veterans by changing one light to green. Ashton Pointe will be joining this campaign for the second consecutive year. We hope you all can too.

Turkey Dumpling Stew

Total Time: 4 hr 50 min
Prep: 50 min
Cook: 4 hr

Ingredients:

  • 1 leftover roasted turkey carcass, plus 3 to 4 cups shredded turkey meat
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 2 stalks celery, quartered crosswise (save the leaves for the dumplings)
  • 1 pound carrots (3 quartered crosswise; the rest thinly sliced)
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 3 sprigs parsley
  • 3 sprigs thyme
  • Dumpling dough
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 shallots, minced
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
  • 1 pound parsnips, peeled and thinly sliced Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1 pound green beans, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
  • Chopped fresh chives, for topping

Directions:

Make the stock: Pull the turkey carcass apart into smaller pieces; set the meat aside. Put the bones in a large, deep pot and add cold water to cover, 4 to 5 quarts. Add the onion, celery, the 3 quartered carrots and the bay leaf. Tie the parsley and thyme together with twine and add to the pot, then cover and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Uncover, reduce the heat to medium low and cook 3 to 4 hours. Remove the bones and vegetables with a skimmer and discard, then strain the stock though a fine-mesh strainer. Return the stock to the pot and simmer over medium-high heat until reduced by half, 30 to 40 minutes (you'll have about 8 cups stock).

About 45 minutes before serving, prepare the dumplings. Keep covered with plastic wrap while you make the stew.

Make the stew: Melt the butter in a large, wide pot over medium heat. Add the shallots and cook until soft, about 3 minutes. Add the flour and cook, stirring, 30 seconds. Gradually add the stock, stirring, and bring to a simmer. Season with salt and pepper. Add the sliced carrots and parsnips, cover and cook 5 minutes.

Stir in the turkey meat, lemon juice and green beans. Add the dumplings in a single layer (leave as squares or pat into rounds). Cover and simmer until the dumplings are cooked through, about 20 minutes. Ladle into bowls; top with chives.


Courtesy Reminder

  • It is strictly prohibited to leave cigarette butts on our property. Not only is this a fire hazard, putting you and your neighbors in harm’s way but it is also unsightly. If you must smoke outside please, take an ashtray with you and do not leave the ashes and butts in the mulch. Any resident who does not follow these policies are subject to fines.
  • Loitering in the common areas of any building is also prohibited.

This information will be immediately available to 9-1-1 when you make an emergency call. These details can save valuable minutes or even seconds in an emergency.


New Weekend Hours!

The leasing office will once again open on Sundays. We will be going back to our regular scheduled hours of 1pm to 5pm starting in October 2016.

Planning a party or get together and have no idea where to have it? How about our clubhouse? We now are offering residents the chance to rent out the clubhouse for private events.
