Hunting Island State Park is less than 20 miles from Ashton Pointe Apartments and the city of Beaufort. It is one of the most popular parks and beaches in the state of South Carolina. With more than 5,000 acres of greenery, sandy beaches, streams and marsh it is no wonder Hunting Island attracts more than 1,000,000 visitors per year.
Hunting Island is an ideal summer escape as well there are plenty of activities to take advantage of year round. Fishing and crabbing are favorites of the locals. One can also get a glimpse of Hollywood cinema history at Hunting Island. Well-known films such as Forrest Gump and G.I. Jane were filmed in the park’s lagoon. While there you may even spot wild animals such as raccoons, deers, pelicans, and much more. You can also, take a stroll along the beach and climb up the spiral staircase to the top of the lighthouse that over looks the Atlantic Ocean.
