Founded in 1711, Beaufort is celebrating its 300^th birthday this year! You can celebrate all year long by learning more about Beaufort with the Historic Beaufort Foundation. Beaufort has some of the most well-preserved houses in the country. Verdier House, located at 801 Bay Street, is one of those special houses in Beaufort that symbolize the wealth that could be acquired in 1800s Beaufort.

Verdier House, a Federal-style mansion built around 1804, was built and owned by John Mark Verdier. Verdier was a planter and a merchant. After he was sent to debtor’s prison, the house was left to his son and daughter-in-law, Caroling. The house was taken over by the Union army after Verdier’s son died and was taken back again by Caroline at a tax sale. Years later, the people of Beaufort rallied together to save the house from destruction, and now it is a house museum. Those valiant people formed what is now the Historic Beaufort Foundation.

Take a tour of the Verdier House! Tours are held everyday except Sunday, on the half hour from 10:00 AM until 4:30 PM

Hello Ashton Pointe! Singer, actress, and performer Marlena Smalls will be taking the stage January 14 and 15 at the Jazz Corner in Hilton Head. Performing along side her to a sold out show is pianist and vocalist Lavon Stevens. If you were unable to get tickets to these two shows they just added a short second set from 9:30p.m. to 9:45p.m. More Information
